Design models and full-size mock-ups
A full-size housing for evaluating proportions and fit. We agree the visible surfaces and preparation for painting when reviewing the model.
Tough resins for functional trials
Prototype before an SLS series
A model for checking geometry and assembly. Fits and snap-fit behaviour also need verification in the series production material.
Tough resins for functional trials
Transparent parts
An inspection cover, light cover or flow-chamber prototype. Clarity depends on thickness and finish; optical requirements are discussed before printing.

Patterns for silicone moulds
A master pattern for a silicone mould. We agree the material, surface finishing and compatibility with the casting process before making the pattern.

Fixtures and gauges
Assembly fixtures, templates and gauges. Resin selection requires the load, working temperature and critical fit dimensions.
Stiff, glass-filled resins (Rigid)
Fine detail
Lettering, textures and model-making parts. We choose the resin, orientation and layer height to suit the geometry and intended finish.

Mechanisms and functional parts
- Hinge, latch, housing, fixture in the machine.
- Specify the load, temperature and number of operating cycles.
- Series that can use the build volume effectively.
- Geometry allows powder removal from internal spaces.

Surface area or size matters
- It must be transparent or smooth for painting.
- Small detail, text, thin edge.
- Pattern for silicone mold, prototype model.
- A large model after checking supports and processing.

The SLS envelope used by the calculator is 159.8 × 159.8 × 295.5 mm, less than the chamber, as part of it requires powder around itself. Full powder data is in material datasheets, and geometry boundary values in design guidelines.
Preparing an SLA model
From the workshop
Visible surface
Identify the visible surface. When orienting the model, we aim to limit support marks there; the sanding scope is agreed in the quotation.
Resin drainage
Hollow spaces need resin drainage, air access and access for washing. The number and position of holes depend on geometry and orientation.
Large concave surfaces
Concave surfaces can form a closed cup during printing. We check orientation and openings before preparing supports.
Washing and post-curing
We wash and post-cure the resin using the selected process. Cycles, drying and finishing are included in the schedule; TDS values refer to the manufacturer's specified tests.
Critical fit dimensions
Include a drawing with tolerances and describe assembly. We assess fits considering orientation, supports and dimensional changes during processing.
Production series
For larger series, we also compare SLS. Process selection is based on the model, material, finishing and working conditions.
A technician will confirm the minimum wall thickness, hole size and clearance for your chosen resin when quoting.

01 · PRINT
Layer height selected for the part
Resin curing on Form 4L. Layer height, orientation and supports are selected for the resin and geometry.
02 · FORM WASH L
Washing and drying
Washing in Form Wash L (43 l) removes uncured resin from accessible surfaces. Channels and internal spaces need access; the duration and washing liquid are selected for the material.
03 · FORM CURE L
Post-curing
Form Cure L: 405 nm light and a machine temperature range up to 100 °C. The cycle depends on the resin; properties are compared using the conditions stated in its TDS.
04 · POST-PROCESSING
Supports and finishing
Support removal, treatment of support marks and the agreed finish. Visible surfaces and critical dimensions are specified before printing.
Support and finishing are not visible in the file volume, so the resin calculator cannot calculate them. Upload the model as with SLS; we will send the quotation within 24 working hours.
The Form Wash L basket accommodates 353 × 200 × 296 mm. For large parts, we check the washing orientation and access to internal spaces. Any additional processing is agreed in the quotation.

FAQ · SLA
What is SLA printing
8 questions
What is SLA printing?
SLA (stereolithography) cures liquid resin with light, layer by layer. Form 4L exposes the layer cross-section at once. Print time depends on height, resin, profile and geometry; quantity also affects platform layout and finishing. Printed parts need washing and post-curing according to the resin requirements.
Form 4L in the machine parkSource: Formlabs Form 4L, manufacturer specification
When is SLA better than SLS?
We consider SLA for transparency, fine detail and surface requirements. Form 4L has a build volume of 353 × 196 × 350 mm; supports and orientation limit the space available for a part. Layers from 25 µm are available for selected resins and profiles, without guaranteeing that part tolerance. SLS is our main process for functional parts and series; selection is confirmed after reviewing the model and working conditions.
Comparison of ten criteriaSource: Formlabs Form 4L, manufacturer specification
Is a resin part durable?
We select a specific resin for load, temperature, exposure time and finish. Grey and Clear serve uses including models and shape assessment, while Tough or Rigid resins have different specimen properties. TDS results do not guarantee finished-part service life. For sustained loads, we compare a suitable resin with PA12, accounting for design and environment.
Resin catalog and their limitationsWhat happens to the part after printing?
Washing in Form Wash L removes uncured resin from accessible surfaces. After drying, we post-cure parts in Form Cure L according to the resin profile; the unit operates at 405 nm and temperatures up to 100 °C, rather than one cycle for every material. Support removal and sanding scope are agreed for the order. Cavities and channels need washing access.
Four steps of the processSource: Formlabs Form Wash L (2nd generation), manufacturer specification; Formlabs Form Cure L (2nd generation), manufacturer specification
Why are support marks visible?
SLA parts may need printed supports. Removing them can leave marks; their position and finishing scope are agreed around visible and critical surfaces. Supports cannot always be kept off an entire face. SLS uses surrounding powder instead of printed supports, but still needs cleaning.
Designing for resinCan a fully transparent part be printed?
We consider Clear Resin V5 for transparent parts. The effect depends on geometry, thickness, orientation and finish. We agree the required clarity and polishing or other finishing during quotation; a glass-like result is not guaranteed for every model. An LED cover and a part that must offer a clear view may need different finishing.
Clear Resin in the catalogHow do you confirm the price of resin printing?
The price depends on the number of parts on the platform, supports and post-processing. The calculator gives an indicative result; a technologist checks the actual layout and preparation. The minimum SLA order for businesses is PLN 299.00 net. Send your model through the resin enquiry form for a reply within 24 working hours.
Send your model for an SLA quoteDo you print dental and medical resins?
No. To call anything a medical device requires a certified and validated production process, which we do not conduct. For the same reason, we do not accept parts responsible for safety. We produce anatomical models for presentation and teaching templates as models, not as medical devices.
