87 °C
HDT PA12 under 1.8 MPa load (ASTM D648)
What powder sintering offers
At the lower test stress of 0.45 MPa, HDT is 171 °C. Neither result is an allowable housing service temperature. We need the temperature at the part, exposure time and mounting forces.
PA12 Material Data SheetWhat this process cannot do here
No fine print
- PA12 flammability is UL 94 HB at 3.00 mm. A housing that must meet V-0 is not suitable for us, as we do not handle self-extinguishing powders.
- We do not shield. Polyamide is a dielectric; EMC shielding requires a coating or insert, which we do not apply.
- We do not make sealed housings with declared IP ratings. We will create a groove for the gasket, but we will not verify sealing classes via testing.
- Threads, inserts and tightening torque need assessment of geometry and mounting forces. Insert installation scope is agreed before printing.
- PA12 has a matte, grainy surface. If close-up product appearance matters, we agree a surface reference and trial-part assessment.
- We do not certify and do not maintain documentation for device conformity assessment.
How your project moves forward
- Model and electronicsState file units, PCB and connectors. Missing geometry is quoted separately.
- Snap fits and clearancesSeparately printed parts: PA12 starting clearance 0.2/0.4 mm. We confirm it on a sample.
- Trial partTrial enclosure scope is agreed in the quote. Check assembly with the actual PCB before the series.
- Series production50–500 parts across successive builds. Quantity discounts start at 100 parts.
What the quotation covers
Indicative SLS pricing accounts for the volume of plastic, material and finish. The calculator shows parts, the minimum order adjustment and new-file preparation separately; lead-time mode and quantity affect the full unit price.

What to prepare for a quote
PCB and connectors
Model or drawing, file units, PCB size and component height. Mark connectors, mounting holes, datums and tolerances.
Lid and trial assembly
Screws, inserts or snap-fits, required deflection and opening frequency. State clearances, mating surfaces and access for powder removal.
Conditions and series
Temperature at the enclosure, exposure duration, mounting forces and use environment. State quantity, date and how you will check fit with the actual electronics.
Send what you have. We will clarify the remaining details when reviewing your enquiry.
How to order
I have a 3D model
Upload your model and choose the parameters. SLS and FDM prices are indicative; an engineer quotes SLA.

Attach photos with a ruler or a drawing. Describe the application; model preparation is quoted separately.
Send dimensions and photosFrequently asked questions
Will the snap withstand opening?
The TDS reports 40% XY elongation at break for PA11 and 11% for PA12. These results do not establish opening-cycle life. Material and geometry are selected for use frequency, deflection and temperature; check the snap-fit on a trial lid before the series.
Can a custom-sized port hole be made?
State the connector dimension, tolerance and measurement datum. The manufacturer warns that holes below 1.0 mm may close; accuracy also depends on wall thickness. We agree finishing of critical holes, and you check fit with the actual connector.
How many units to make it worthwhile?
Usually from a few dozen parts, depending on geometry. We compare SLS and FDM for the actual series instead of assuming one is cheaper. SLS is useful for repeated parts with complex shapes and snap-fits.
Will I receive a material declaration?
You will receive the manufacturer's powder TDS card with test standards. We do not issue device compliance declarations or flammability tests.
What clearance should I use for a lid?
For separately printed PA12 parts, the manufacturer gives 0.2 mm for mating features below 20 mm² and 0.4 mm above 20 mm². This is a starting point for trials. Clearance depends on geometry, material and finishing; integrated prints have different recommendations.
Does the calculator include enclosure design?
The calculator estimates printing from a finished model and shows new-file preparation separately. Design from PCB dimensions, geometry changes and additional finishing need an individual quote before work starts.
