PA12
Our base SLS powder for rigid parts and production series.
PA12 for housings, fixtures and production series. Specimen data show a higher tensile modulus than PA11, but lower notched impact strength and elongation at break. We prepare a reviewed quotation for international orders.

- refresh rate
- 30%
- The share of fresh powder added to each build. It determines the variable material cost more directly than the listed price of a powder bag.
- build chamber atmosphere
- Air
- Where the manufacturer permits printing a nitrogen-grade powder in air, we use a higher refresh rate and include it in the quotation.
- individual quotation
- reviewed quote
- A technologist will confirm the price, powder availability and lead time after reviewing the model and quantity.
When to use this material and when to avoid it
+ Choose it when
- Tensile modulus of 1,850 MPa (ASTM D638 Type 1), useful when selecting a material for rigid parts.
- Housings, fixtures and mounting surfaces; we select fits for the geometry and working conditions.
- Small mass changes in 24-hour tests with selected oils and solvents; the results and media are listed below.
- Powder surrounds the part during printing, so the part needs no supports.
− Avoid it when
- Notched Izod impact strength of 32 J/m (ASTM D256-10), lower than PA11 specimen results. For impact exposure, we also assess the part design, temperature and loads.
- Elongation at break 11% in X/Y and only 6% in Z axis, so a flexible latch must be consciously oriented.
- HDT of 87 °C at 1.8 MPa (ASTM D648) is a specimen test result. Part service temperature is assessed with exposure time, load and mounting.
- Water absorption of 0.66% (ASTM D570) describes a specimen, not part dimensional change. Fits require assessment of the geometry and measurement conditions.

X/Y is the powder spreading plane, Z is the build direction. The difference between axes is not a measurement error but a process characteristic. How we choose build orientation.

HDT is the temperature at which a test specimen reaches a specified deflection, not a part's allowable continuous service temperature. 0.45 MPa and 1.8 MPa are two test stresses; the lower value does not mean no load. For material selection, tell us the temperature, exposure time, load and mounting method.
PA12 and PA11: samples conditioned for 7 days at 50% relative humidity and 23 °C, per manufacturer datasheets. The TPU 90A datasheet does not state the same conditioning protocol. Results depend on geometry, orientation, temperature and humidity; they describe test specimens, not guaranteed part properties.

The immersion test ran for 24 h on a 1 cm³ cube. Mass change may indicate absorption or degradation, but does not determine part service life. A low value does not confirm suitability for continuous contact. Tell us the medium, concentration, temperature and contact duration for an application review.
