Precision Model Resin
Beige model resin for clearly visible fine features.
Precision Model has a matte, opaque colour suited to examining model edges and surfaces. We use it for patterns and inspection models. Critical dimensions, measurement reference and inspection scope are agreed for the specific geometry.

Typical applications
353 × 196 × 350 mm
- Models for fine-feature assessment
- Miniatures and presentation models
- Patterns before mould manufacture
- Inspection models for comparison with CAD
Supports and orientation are selected for the geometry. Support removal may leave marks, so specify viewing surfaces and critical fits in your enquiry.
Selecting for an application
+ Material features
- Matte beige colour helps reveal fine features.
- A material for patterns and models compared with CAD.
- Manufacturer specimen preparation is shown beside the table.
- Pattern finishing can be selected for the surface reproduced by the mould.
− What needs assessment
- The manufacturer's claim of over 99% of surface area within 100 µm concerns its restorative models. It is not a tolerance for our Form 4L models.
- Thin protrusions and flexing features need geometry assessment and trials. Elongation at break does not describe repeated bending.
- Agree moulding temperature and cleaning agents. An immersion test result alone is insufficient to select a process.
- We assess functional parts by load and operating conditions rather than selecting a material by name alone.
Manufacturer classification
The manufacturer classifies Precision Model as a dental resin for laboratory models. At fuse3d we use it for technical models. We do not provide dental services or medical devices and do not accept such orders.
Mechanical properties
Values with test standards
Formlabs, Precision Model Resin TDS (ENUS), rev. 01, 20.03.2024
Scroll the table sideways to see the remaining columns.
| Property | Value | Test standard |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile Strength | 50 MPa | ASTM D638-14 |
| Modulus of Elasticity in Tension | 2 200 MPa | ASTM D638-14 |
| Elongation at Break | 8.6% | ASTM D638-14 |
| Flexural Strength | 87 MPa | ASTM D790-15 |
| Flexural Modulus | 2 300 MPa | ASTM D790-15 |
| Izod impact strength with notch | 32 J/m | ASTM D256-10 |
| Izod impact strength without notch | 262 J/m | ASTM D4812-11 |
Test preparation: Manufacturer's test specimens: Form 4, 50 µm layers; 5 min wash in Form Wash, IPA ≥99%; 5 min post-cure at 35 °C in Form Cure. Production settings for Form 4L are agreed separately.
Thermal properties
Heat deflection testing
Scroll the table sideways to see the remaining columns.
| Property | Value | Test standard |
|---|---|---|
| HDT at 1.8 MPa | 46.3 °C | ASTM D648-16 |
| HDT at 0.45 MPa | 53.5 °C | ASTM D648-16 |
| Coefficient of thermal expansion | 81.1 µm/m/°C | ASTM E813-13 |
These values describe specimens post-cured under the conditions beside the table. Curing changes properties; not every value increases. HDT describes specimen deflection under the stated load. We assess part operating temperature with its geometry, load and exposure time.
