Why this part is made in resin

The Clear V5 TDS reports 85% transmission at 2 mm and 59% at 10 mm under ASTM D1003-21. These are specimen results, not a visibility guarantee for a finished part. Image clarity also depends on curvature, surfaces and finishing access.

What this process cannot do here

No fine print

  • We assess transmission and internal visibility for the intended thickness and finish.
  • Sanding and polishing require surface access. Finishing scope is quoted separately.
  • We do not make lenses with specified optical performance or measurement optics.
  • State temperature, load and exposure time in the enquiry. Specimen HDT is not an allowable operating temperature for a light cover.
  • We do not declare UV resistance or colour stability over time, as we have not tested these ourselves.
  • We do not accept pressure or vacuum parts, food-contact parts or medical applications.
  • Support contact areas may need finishing. Identify viewing surfaces and fits.

What the quotation covers

SLA is quoted individually. The quote includes printing and the agreed finishing: raw and polished surfaces require different work. A technologist replies within 24 business hours.

    Describe the required visibility and finishing scope. Transparency depends on geometry and finishing.

    Temperature, load, substance contact and cleaning method. Include quantity and timing.

Will it be as clear as glass?

Clarity depends on surface, geometry and thickness. We select finishing for the desired effect; a glass-like appearance is not guaranteed.

What thickness still works?

The Clear V5 TDS reports 85% transmission at 2 mm and 59% at 10 mm. Light transmission does not define image clarity. For your part we also assess curvature and finishing; sample scope is agreed in the quote.

Can this be made into a lens?

We can make a lens model for shape and ergonomics assessment. Lenses with specified optical performance are outside the service scope.

Can this be done with powder?

Our SLS powders produce opaque parts. For internal viewing we consider Clear V5 and agree the finish.

What is the maximum size of a part you can print in one piece?

The nominal Form 4L build volume is 353 × 196 × 350 mm. We assess printability with orientation, supports and finishing. Any split is agreed before printing.

Can a closed channel be polished?

Only accessible surfaces can be finished mechanically. Before printing we assess access for washing, support removal and internal polishing. Finishing the outside wall does not remove marks on the inside surface; any model split is agreed.
