TPU 90A
Elastomer for flexible parts, cushioning and seal selection.
TPU 90A for flexible parts: hardness of 90 Shore A, elongation at break of 310% in X/Y and 110% in Z. These are specimen results, not a range of elastic deformation. For a seal, tell us the medium, pressure, temperature and duration of use.
Manufacturer datasheet (PDF)Powder handling and quotation
- refresh rate
- 20%
- The share of fresh powder added to each build. It determines the variable material cost more directly than the listed price of a powder bag.
- build chamber atmosphere
- Air
- Where the manufacturer permits printing a nitrogen-grade powder in air, we use a higher refresh rate and include it in the quotation.
- individual quotation
- reviewed quote
- A technologist will confirm the price, powder availability and lead time after reviewing the model and quantity.
We print mainly in PA12. Switching to PA11 or TPU 90A requires thorough cleaning of the chamber to remove the previous powder.
When to use this material and when to avoid it
+ Choose it when
- Elongation at break of 310% in X/Y (ASTM D412-16 Method A), useful when selecting flexible parts.
- Tear strength 66 kN/m in the layer plane.
- Volume loss of 122 mm³ in the ISO 4649 abrasion test (40 rpm, 10 N load).
- SLS prints elastomers without supports. Channels and cavities need access for powder removal; a fully enclosed space retains powder.
− Avoid it when
- Results differ by axis: tear resistance of 66 versus 39 kN/m and elongation at break of 310% versus 110% in X/Y and Z.
- Weak chemical resistance: acetone +28.6%, xylene +20.8%, and concentrated HCl causes mass loss, i.e., material degradation.
- Compression set of 59.9% at 70 °C (ASTM D395-18 Method B). A seal under sustained compression is selected for its actual working conditions.
- There is no automatic calculator rate yet; we prepare an individual quotation within 24 working hours.

X/Y is the powder spreading plane, Z is the build direction. The difference between axes is not a measurement error but a process characteristic. How we choose build orientation.

PA12 and PA11: samples conditioned for 7 days at 50% relative humidity and 23 °C, per manufacturer datasheets. The TPU 90A datasheet does not state the same conditioning protocol. Results depend on geometry, orientation, temperature and humidity; they describe test specimens, not guaranteed part properties.

The immersion test ran for 24 h on a 1 cm³ cube. Mass change may indicate absorption or degradation, but does not determine part service life. A low value does not confirm suitability for continuous contact. Tell us the medium, concentration, temperature and contact duration for an application review.
