PA12 sample weight gain after 24 h in 3.5% NaCl salt water (TDS)

What powder sintering offers

The manufacturer immersed a printed 1 × 1 × 1 cm cube in the solution for 24 h. The result concerns sample weight gain, not the service life of hardware at sea. Permanent immersion, sun exposure and loads require a separate application assessment.

What this process cannot do here

No fine print

  • We do not produce anything from rigging or load-bearing hardware: blocks under load, mast fittings, steering system components.
  • We do not manufacture parts responsible for water safety and do not issue classification approvals.
  • We do not declare UV resistance. We have not tested it, and the deck is the worst place to guess. A part permanently exposed to the sun requires testing on your end.
  • PA12 HDT is 87 °C at a test stress of 1.8 MPa. This is a sample-deflection test result, not an allowable continuous operating temperature. For a part near an engine, provide temperature, duration and loads.
  • We do not manufacture pressure vessels or fuel system components under pressure.

What the quotation covers

Small fittings can be printed together in the chamber. The indicative unit price includes the minimum and preparation spread over the ordered quantity. SLS quantity discounts start at 100 parts.

What to prepare for a quote

  • Mounting

Photos of the part and its installation. Include hole spacing and mating-component dimensions.

  • Environment

Fresh or salt water, sunlight, temperature and exposure time. We do not declare UV resistance.

  • Function and quantity

What does the part hold, and what loads act on it? Include quantity and timing. We decline safety-critical hardware.

Send what you have. We will clarify the remaining details when reviewing your enquiry.

How to order

I have a 3D model

Upload your model and choose the parameters. SLS and FDM prices are indicative; an engineer quotes SLA.

Frequently asked questions

Will it survive a season on board?

The datasheet gives water and salt-water test results, not a guarantee for a full season on deck. We have not tested UV resistance ourselves. For continuous sun exposure, test one trial part in its actual conditions before ordering a series.

PA12 or PA11?

The TDS lists ASTM D570 water absorption of 0.66% for PA12 and 0.07% for PA11. These results do not determine performance during permanent immersion. Tell us the environment, temperature, loads and required fits; we will select the material and trial scope.

Do you make custom parts for older boats?

Yes, this is a typical order: a part from a manufacturer who no longer produces it. We recreate the geometry from measurements or a scan; the original returns along with the new part.

Will I receive a certificate or approval?

No. We provide data from the manufacturer's powder TDS cards, and that is the complete documentation we issue. Items requiring classification are not for us.
