PA12 specimen flexural modulus (ASTM D790-15)

Why SLS for this part

Modulus describes specimen stiffness. Knob or catch deflection also depends on cross-section, mounting and force. Shaft fit, mechanism travel and wear are assessed from measurements and trial assembly; modulus does not establish them.

What this process cannot do here

No fine print

  • We do not reproduce parts under mains voltage. Insulation is not something declared on the powder datasheet.
  • We do not reproduce the manufacturer's logos, function descriptions, or scales. We reproduce the geometry that makes the part work.
  • Shade and texture are agreed on a physical sample. Dyeing requires a minimum of 20 parts and an individual quote; colour is confirmed for the job.
  • We do not produce optical parts or display windows. The sinter is matte and does not transmit light.
  • We do not guarantee compliance with a part we have not seen. A catalog number alone is insufficient.
  • We do not reproduce drive belts or anything rubbery. This is a separate technology and a separate supplier.

How your project moves forward

  1. Sample and mountInclude the sample or photos with calipers. Show the shaft and mating component.
  2. Measurements and modelFor a gear, include its mating gear and shaft spacing. Measurement scope is agreed.
  3. Trial partFit-check and adjustment scope are agreed in the quote. Check the part in your device.
  4. Selected quantityConfirm quantity after checking assembly. Further geometry changes are agreed separately.

What the quotation covers

Private customers have no minimum order or automatic price. Geometry reconstruction and printing are quoted separately; the ranges below cover model preparation.

3D Scanning · EinScan Rigil

We measure worn parts instead of guessing

Photographs with a ruler help assess scope. Simple dimensions can be measured manually; we consider scanning for free-form surfaces. Wear is recorded as the part's condition; reconstruction dimensions are agreed separately.

What remains with you

  • MeshRecords accessible surfaces in their current condition, including wear. A mesh can be edited, but has no operation history or dimensions from a parametric CAD model.
  • Solid modelReconstructs geometry using scans, measurements and available documentation. We agree critical dimensions and assumptions; a parametric model is created where possible.
  • Deviation reportComparison with supplied CAD: a deviation map on scanned surfaces and agreed sections. We agree inspection scope and alignment datums before work; unseen areas remain outside measurement.

What to prepare for a quote

  • Device and sample

Device model, part photos and an intact sample if available. Include its mating component; mark wear, missing surfaces and drawing or file units.

  • Shaft and gear mesh

Shaft section and diameter, flats or splines, insertion depth and clearances. For a gear, include the mating pair, tooth count and shaft spacing.

  • Operation and appearance

Forces, use frequency, temperature at the part and exposure duration. Identify visible surfaces, a colour reference, quantity and trial-part inspection plan.

Send what you have. We will clarify the remaining details when reviewing your enquiry.

How to order

I need a model

Attach photos with a ruler or a drawing. Describe the application; model preparation is quoted separately.

I have a 3D model

Upload your model and choose the parameters. SLS and FDM prices are indicative; an engineer quotes SLA.

Frequently asked questions

I have only one complete knob out of four. Is that sufficient?

An intact part is a useful sample. We check whether the remaining shafts have the same section, diameter and mounting depth. Send photos and measurements; confirm the set geometry after the fit check.

The gear has broken teeth. Can it be reproduced?

Send preserved teeth, the mating gear and shaft spacing. A worn fragment may not establish module, pressure angle or profile shift. Measurement and trial-meshing scope are assessed before modelling.

Will the part withstand heat from inside the amplifier?

PA12 HDT is 87 °C at 1.8 MPa in the test, not a guaranteed service temperature. Tell us the temperature at the part, exposure time and mounting. We decline parts resting directly on a heat sink.

Will it be obvious that this is not an original?

Sintered PA12 has a matte, grainy surface. Fuse Blast cleaning does not guarantee the original texture or gloss. Identify visible surfaces and a reference; finish and colour are agreed before printing.

How do we fit a knob to a potentiometer shaft?

State diameter, shaft section, flats or splines, insertion depth and mounting method. Mark datums and required clearances. A trial knob helps check assembly; the device model does not replace shaft measurements.

Will a small printed gear reproduce mechanism performance?

We need the gear pair, shaft spacing, load and required backlash. SLS has limits for small features and mating surfaces. Material and trial scope are assessed for the mechanism; PA12 specimen data do not establish its lifetime.
